AN IR­ISH priest who saved 6,500 Jews dur­ing the Holo­caust will be recog­nised with a new post­hu­mous hu­man­i­tar­ian award. Mon­signor Hugh O’Fla­herty, de­scribed as “Ire­land’s Oskar Schindler”, hid Jews in a net­work of safe houses and monas­ter­ies across Rome.
