They deserve your help
UNIVERSITY JEWISH Chaplaincy, Chai Cancer Care and Jewish Women’s Aid are the beneficiaries of this year’s JC Charity Appeal.
The charities were chosen by a panel including Esther Rantzen, Maureen Lipman and Baroness Neuberger from reader nominations. We are now asking readers to support these charities, each of which performs an essential service within the community.
Jewish Women’s Aid offers a lifeline for women and their children who have suffered abuse, operating a refuge and a freephone helpline. University Jewish Chaplaincy, a presence on campus for 40 years, faces “a real challenge” to maintain its network of nine chaplaincy centres.
Chai Cancer Care helps Jewish cancer sufferers and their families, regardless of synagogue affiliation. The North London-based cancersupport organisation reports that over the past year “new client numbers have doubled and we expect them to continue rising year-on-year”.
