Liffchak leads bid
GB has named a 25-man rugby squad to compete at next summer’s Maccabiah Games.
The squad contains 11 players from the last event including full-time professional Aaron Liffchak of London Welsh who has obtained permission from his club to compete.
The team will be managed by Jonathan Seltzer and Jon Tyler. They have retained the services of 2005 coach Richard Hodges, who was recently appointed to the position of Welsh National seven’s coach.
He will be assisted by the Hertfordshire County coach Nick Mortimer.
Seltzer says that the squad is a “good mixture of youth and experience”.
The team has high hopes of improving on a fourth place finish last time and hope to become the first GB side to take gold. The full 25-man squad comprises: Ben Allin, Jonathan Brasse, Sam Castle, Benjamin Chamberlain, Andrew Cooke, Neal Fetterman, Jonathan Fienberg, Mike Filson, Simon Filson, Matthew Frankfurt, Andrew Gillman, Haydn Hertz, Jonathan Jacobs, Samuel Katz, Ryan Kaye, Aaron Liffchak, Dean Miller, Jake Norman, Mark Pettit, Aaron Radley, Samuel Rhodes, Robert Seltzer, Nathan Taylor, Guy Tyler, Saul Zulman.
