Mr Bagels, one of Europe’s leading bagel manufacturers, is the latest victim of the recession. The company, founded by brothers Paul and Avi Kahalani, called in the administrators this week, believed to be struggling to cope with the squeeze of supermarkets demanding reduced prices from suppliers. Mr Bagels produces some 150m bagels a year for stores including Tesco and Waitrose. Some 26 jobs have already gone and the rest could follow if a buyer for the business isn’t found.
