RABBI’S RICH MAN?
Geoffrey Alderman’s view ( Every Chief Rabbi needs a rich patron, JC October 9) is very disturbing.
Any such “rich patron” (for the United Synagogue) needs to be, firstly, a lay person of a high and consistent standard of Orthodox observance and, secondly, with no personal agenda to move the United Synagogue in a direction simply consistent with his own inclinations.
Is there such a lay person (or persons) out there? If so, let him (her, them) step forward now, before we are steamrollered by an inappropriate rich patron. Leon Marks Deacons Hill Rd, Elstree, Herts
