EXTREMISM AT HOME

The Jewish Chronicle - - Comment&analysis -

Jonathan Freedland says that British Jewish leaders are blind to antisemitism in Eastern Europe ( JC October 23). This cannot possibly be the same Jonathan Freedland who works for a newspaper whose “Comment Is Free” blog is possibly the leading incubator of antisemitic discourse in its class.

Nor can it be the same Jonathan Freedland who was a cheerleader in May 2008 for a London mayoral candidate who told me three times that Israel should not have been created, and who was an ally in the early 1980s of Gerry Healy, the leader of the Workers’ Revolutionary Party, who claimed that “a powerful Zionist connection runs from the so-called left of the Labour Party right into the centre of Thatcher’s government in Downing Street”.

Or can it? Jonathan Hoffman jonathan.hoffman@btinternet.com
