HULL FRIENDS of Ma­gen David Adom held its an­nual gar­den party at the home of Hull He­brew Con­gre­ga­tion pres­i­dent Jonathan Levine and his wife, Deb­bie. The event, opened by Ajex vet­eran Max Daniels, in­cluded stalls and a raf­fle and raised more than £1,000. It marked the 30th an­niver­sary of the re­lease of a cook­ery book pro­duced by the char­ity that in­cluded recipes sent in by JC read­ers.


THE LORD MAYOR of Leeds Cllr Revd Alan Tay­lor has hailed the new Leeds Jewish Hous­ing As­so­ci­a­tion’s £6.6 mil­lion shel­tered hous­ing scheme in Stonegate Way as an ex­cel­lent role model for the city. The Lord Mayor un­veiled a plaque to record a do­na­tion from Ajex of £15,000 to LJHA. The event was held in the Joash Woodrow lounge, where the money will be used to add to its fur­nish­ings. Ad­dress­ing over 50 ten­ants and Ajex na­tional mem­bers, Cllr Tay­lor said: “Stonegate Way is a mas­sive role model for the rest of the city, and I ap­plaud the Jewish com­mu­nity for what it is do­ing.” With the com­ple­tion of Phase One, and Phase Two
