The Jewish Chronicle - - Comment & Analysis -

In response to your report ( JC, July 29) concerning the fall-off in gap-year applicants choosing to spend time in Israel, while this is a concern for all of the Jewish community, I am delighted that young members of Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue are still choosing Israel programmes with us.

We have consistently had young members in Israel and the benefit to our synagogue, LJY-Netzer, LJ and the wider Jewish community is clear.

A disproportionate number of LJYNetzer movement workers have come from NPLS in recent years and the experience of gap-year programmes have been an influence on those choosing the rabbinate, like Charley Baginsky and myself.

That LJY-Netzer’s summer tour is once again full bodes well for us. ( Rabbi ) Aaron Goldstein Northwood & Pinner Liberal Synagogue Oaklands Gate, Northwood, Mdx
