AT the risk of being a killjoy, here’s a tip for holidaymakers wishing to make the most of their holiday money: Don’t buy souvenirs.

A sombrero may look the part in Mexico, a snow globe may look pretty on a stall in Venice, and a bottom shaped teapot may cause you to chuckle when in Blackpool.

In holiday mode, they seem fun and frivolous, but back home they end up gathering dust in the dark echelons of your cupboard because they are too sad to display — certainly no laughing matter.

So save your money and for that matter, your style credibility, and leave behind the clutter.
