POLITICIANS’ SURGERY

The Jewish Chronicle - - Comment & Analysis -

I was interested to read of the secret talks between President Shimon Peres and Mahmoud Abbas at the home of Poju Zabludowicz ( JC August 19).

Similar events took place at my home in St John’s Wood between October 1968 and August 1977 when it was owned by Dr Emanuel Herbert, a distinguished GP whose fashionable practice included King Hussein of Jordan and other royals. It was considered that patients visiting a doctor’s surgery would not attract attention.

Visitors included Abba Eban, Yigal Allon and King Hussein.

Talks continued intermittently for several months but unfortunately were unproductive. Dr Cyril Nemeth Langford Place. London NW8
