MACMIL­LAN CAN­CER Sup­port has thrown down a gaunt­let to its north Leeds Jewish com­mit­tee to raise £20,000 --and the five-strong group has pledged to rise to the chal­lenge. Macmil­lan has asked the com­mit­tee, led by its founder Ros­alind Bick­ler, to raise the money to fund the post of a new can­cer in­for­ma­tion sup­port as­sis­tant to an­swer calls on the char­ity’s can­cer care line. Mrs Bick­ler said: “This is in­deed a chal­lenge but we have an in­cred­i­bly loyal bunch of sup­port­ers who we hope will be there to help us.”


FIFTY PEO­PLE at­tended a lunch in aid of Eshel Colel Chabad at the St Annes home of Ninette Levy. The gath­er­ing was ad­dressed by Manch­ester based Ju­dith Phillips who spoke about an Eshel or­gan­ised bar­mitz­vah for or­phaned boys in Israel. Money raised at the event will be used
