For too long, Yom Hashoah has simply passed our community by. Thankfully this is no longer the case with over 50 local events taking place to mark this year’s date, more than double the number from 2011.

One of the main events is led by the Office of the Chief Rabbi, which takes the audience on a journey “From Grief to Hope: Handing the Memory On”. It is hoped this will ultimately form the template for communal commemorations that will make Shoah remembrance accessible to a new generation.

This year’s event will be held at JFS on April 18. I hope as many as possible will join us for what is an emotional, poignant and moving evening. Laura Kaye The Forum for Yom Hashoah yomhashoah@theus.org.uk
