Brixton Old Boys A will be playing Premier Division football next season after pipping Norstar A to the runners-up spot in Division One with a 6-1 demolition of Redbridge Jewish Care B.

John Nitka’s men needed to win the game to leapfrog Norstar to the second promotion slot and they made no mistake against a depleted Redbridge team, with a dominant secondhalf display doing the trick at Enfield Playing Fields.

J a mie K e n t smashed home the opener following a defence-splitting pass from Rob Hershkorn.

The goal calmed Brixton’s nerves and they took total control of the game, playing some delightful football. Alon Hershkorn added two quickfire strikes before his brother, Rob, repeated the feat. Substitute Michael Posner finished the j o b 1 5 minutes from time.

Redbridge’s grabbed a late consolation through Richie Caplin.

Brixton boss John Nitka said: “We didn’t get going in a very nervous first 45 minutes, but the second half was a different

s t o r y . Our midfield of Ben Weinberg, George Fierstone and James Kaye controlled the game. A massive thank-you to my players and we can now look forward to next season.

“We have had a fantastic year, finishing off with back-to-back promotions from Division Two into the Premiership, just as I’d predicted.”

RJC boss Stirling Kay commented: “We promised Norstar we would do every thing possible to win this game and the 10 players who played in the first half were superb.

“This has ended up being a very disappointing season which started so well.”
