ROYAL AJEX MYSTERY

The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMENT -

While researching the origin of the annual Ajex parade, I came across this on page 202 of Jewish London on sale at the Jewish Museum: “In 1919 a member of the royal family overheard a remark suggesting that the Jews did not serve enough during WWI. The king asked the Chief Rabbi to arrange a parade by Jewish servicemen to show this was not the case”.

Neither Ajex, Chief Rabbi Hertz’s records nor those of King George V at Windsor Castle, can find anything in support of this claim. Would anyone whocan to corroborate the story contact me? Alan Secker 209 Albury Drive, Pinner, Middlesex
