HERITAGE SITE FOR ISRAEL
A NEW World Heritage Site in Israel has been announced by Unesco. The Caves of Maresha and Beit Guvrin National Park south of Modi’in comprise an underground city beneath ancient twin towns. The chambers were used over a period of 2,000 years as everything from dovecotes and stables to temples, tombs and hideouts.
