Glorious games start for Team Maccabi GB
purple patch by beating his team-mate Oehley into silver. There were more golds, with Ayrton winning the U14 girls 800m and she also came home first in the joint-U14 and U16 race.
Raphael won gold in the boys 800m as did Oehley in the boys’ shot put.
And Team Maccabi GB cleaned up in the 200m, with Monday’s 100m superstars Oehley and Raphael taking gold and silver respectively. In total, 18 medals were won by GB on track and field on top of the 12 won earlier.
The Team Maccabi GB girls football team have been outstanding having notched up two 6-1 scorelines (against Greater Washington and North Miami Beach) to reach the quarter-finals.
Joint delegation head Helena Green said: “Great credit must go to the managers Matt Travers and Debra Silver in building up such a good spirit within the squad. We cannot wait to see what they have in store next.”
However the boys team, who were complaining that they were winning their early games too easily, came up against a good North Miami Beach side who beat them 4-3.
But there were no complaints after they missed a penalty and played the last 10 minutes with 10-men after Tyler Smith was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
