Call for Shab­bat UK vol­un­teers

CON­GRE­GA­TIONS AROUND the coun­try are re­quest­ing ex­tra vol­un­teers to help with the ex­plo­sion of events be­ing or­gan­ised for Shab­bat UK.

Ac­cord­ing to or­gan­iser Rabbi Daniel Rowe, 300 ad­di­tional madrichim have been asked for. “Com­mu­ni­ties need the ex­tra supp o r t . T h e o v e r a l l num­ber of madrichim, i n c l u d - ing peo­ple al­ready in the c o mmu­ni­ties, will be around 1,000,” he said.

The na­tional cel­e­bra­tion of Shab­bat was ini­ti­ated by Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, with the inau­gu­ral event last year at­tract­ing more than 100,000 peo­ple.

This year’s events, on Oc­to­ber 23-24, is set to in­volve even more par­tic­i­pants.

“Ev­ery­where, we’ve been hear­ing about peo­ple do­ing more stuff, or stuff where they weren’t last year,” said Rabbi Rowe. “Both the qual­ity and quan­tity of events have in­creased."
