The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMUNITY - BY CHARLOTTE OLIVER

THE OFFICE of the Schools Adjudicator has upheld a complaint against the admissions policy of Hasmonean High in Barnet. The complaint, lodged by an unnamed parent of a prospective pupil, objected to questions asked by the school in its “rabbi reference form”.

According to the investigating adjudicator: “It would not be possible to objectively assess whether or not a family observes the laws of family purity.” The complaint was upheld as the admissions code requires criteria to be objective.

The school had already made changes to its criteria following the objection. It now has until February to make other revisions to its code. No school representatives were available for comment.
