We’ve­beaten Beck­hamto film prize

“BET­TER THAN Beck­ham” is the claim of spe­cial needs char­ity Kisharon af­ter its din­ner ap­peal video scooped a ma­jor in­dus­try award for the sec­ond suc­ces­sive year.

The pro­duc­tion com­pany Vanilla Films took the Gold Ev­com Clar­ion Award for its three-minute video, Through My Eyes, which used height­ened sound ef­fects to give an un­der­stand­ing of how the world ap­pears to peo­ple with learn­ing dis­abil­i­ties.

Hav­ing helped the char­ity to raise £800,000 from the din­ner, it was cho­sen for the prize in the cel­e­bra­tory films cat­e­gory ahead of a Unicef pro­duc­tion fea­tur­ing David Beck­ham.

MC Stu­art Rock with the film-mak­ers and Kisharon’s Richard Franklin fundrais­ing di­rec­tor Richard Franklin at the Lon­don cer­e­mony.

“We are thrilled that we have won, given the cal­i­bre of the other nom­i­nees,” Ms So­bel said.

“It is won­der­ful work­ing with Kisharon as they are pre­pared to take crea- tive risks — and this has clearly paid off.”

Ms Ben­veniste added: “Af­ter last year’s award, we didn’t ex­pect to re­peat our suc­cess.

“It’s a credit to Kisharon for trust­ing us as film-mak­ers.”
