SOUTH AFRICA: NO CRACKDOWN ON JEWS

The Jewish Chronicle - - WORLD NEWS -

SOUTH AFRICA’S Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba has assured Jewish leaders that the government would not alter dual citizenship laws in order to prevent Jews from leaving the country to join the IDF. Last month, senior ANC official Obed Bapela indicated that the government was considering such legislation, specifically with Jews in mind. The South African Jewish Board of Deputies and Zionist Federation accused Bapela of antisemitism. In a meeting with Jewish leaders last week, Mr Gigaba said that the government did not tolerate antisemitism or other forms of racism.
