MUSLIM GIRL WINS ANNE FRANK AWARD
A MUSLIM student has won a national prize for her poem about Anne Frank.
Maha Salman, a Year 8 pupil from the King Edward VI School for Girls in Birmingham, won the Anne Frank Poetry prize, sponsored by the Anne Frank Trust UK, for her work “Hope”.
Maha said Anne Frank had had a huge influence on her life. Trust vice president Gillian Walnes said that in such troubled times the fact that a young Muslim had spoken so eloquently about a Jewish Holocaust victim was in itself a cause for hope.
