Jamie Carragher helps Maccabi Brady net premier funds for sports centre
JAMIE CARRAGHER and the Chief Rabbi were special guests at the annual Maccabi London Brady lunch.
Mr Carragher, the former England and Liverpool defender, shared stories with the 220 diners about his playing days before turning his attention to life as a media pundit for Sky Sports.
He described Manchester City as his “favourites” for the Premier League title. “They’re flying and have the best players in the spine of the team.
“I’d like to see Arsenal win it this year. I’m a big admirer of Arsene Wenger and think that early elimination from the Champions League could be a blessing in disguise.”
Recalling his experience of playing for England against Israel in 2007, he said the pitch at the Ramat Gan National Stadium had “the best sur- face” he has ever played on.
MLB chairman, David Kyte, shared a vision of a new clubhouse and further multi-sport facilities that are in a development plan following the construction of the Alpha Stadium and stand.
The lunch, held in central London, raised £270,000, which will go towards next year’s running costs at the 52-acre Rowley Lane sports centre in Barnet.
