CORRECTIVE SURGERY

The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMENT -

Your obituary on Oliver Sacks ( JC, Oct 9) incorrectly states that his mother, Elsie Muriel Landau, was a pathologist. She was, as correctly stated, one of Britain’s first women surgeons, but she left surgical practice in the 1930s to take up the gynaecology and obstetric practice for which she became famous. Stuart Stanton, Professor of Gynaecology Church Hill, London, SW19
