A legal claim for compensation for the Carmel College victims is being pursued by a firm of solicitors.

Cambridge-based Andrew Grove and Company announced it was acting on behalf of four of the victims whose testimony led to last week’s conviction of Trevor Bolton.

In a statement, Mr Grove said it had taken “many years for the truth to emerge of the abuse that took place at the hands of Trevor Bolton. I observed the complete trial and saw the evidence from truthful and compelling witnesses”.

Mr Grove’s firm has prepared “a letter of demand to the solicitors who dealt with Mr Bolton’s dismissal in 1988 and the school’s affairs generally, asking for details of public liability insurance which is the basis through which we can commence civil litigation”.

His firm specialises in compensation claims for abuse victims.
