Pearlman powers Scrabble through
FOOTBALL RAY Abrahams breathed a sigh of relief after Scrabble FC won their first cup game of the season with a resounding 6-0 victory over Petts Wood.
Having been eliminated from the Peter Morrison Trophy and Cyril Anekstein Cup, Abrahams was determined to make a winning start in the London FA Sunday Junior Cup, and his players did not let him down against opponents from the Metropolitan Sunday Football League.
First-half strikes from Adam Pearlman and Zak McLeod put Scrabble in charge. McLeod added a third after 60 minutes before Danny Sherman scored the goal of the game to make it four.
Pearlman completed his treble with two well-taken finishes to set up a second-round trip to Beckenham Rovers.
Abrahams said: “This was our last chance to progress in a cup competition this season and the guys were brilliant.
“Our build-up play was first-class, with some good assists, and we were very clinical in front of goal.”
