Sup­port the JC’s Mitz­vah Day project

THE JC is ask­ing read­ers to sup­port refugees through its Mitz­vah Day project, be­ing run in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Gift char­ity’s shoe re­cy­cling scheme, Step Up. This was launched by bar­mitz­vah boy Noah Ru­bin on Mitz­vah Day 2013 and in­volves the col­lec­tion of barely worn shoes which are cleaned and sorted by vol­un­teers and sent to re­cip­i­ents at home and abroad. Al­most 3,000 pairs have been dis­trib­uted to refugees, asy­lum seek­ers, Lon­don home­less shel­ters and Jews in need.

Read­ers can do­nate footwear on Sun­day, Novem­ber 8, from 10am- 2pm at Gift’s north Lon­don ware­house, 6163 Wat­ford Way (cor­ner of Run­dell Cres­cent), Hen­don NW4 3LP. Those in Manch­ester can drop off shoes on Mon­day-Thurs­day, from 10am-noon, at Prestwich He­brew Con­gre­ga­tion, Bury New Road M25 9WN.
