Raiders will be better for cup defeat, says Richman

FOOTBALL ROB Richman insists North London Raiders can take some positives from their Sunday Challenge Cup defeat against Tripimeni Olympia.

Jonny Kay and Ben Rosenblatt registered for the defending MGBSFL champions but they were edged out 3-2 by last year’s finalists.

Richman said: “We are disappointed to go out of the competition at the first round. We knew it was going to be a really difficult task having been pitted against a very good side and then turning up with just 11 men.

“We gave our opposition too much respect in the first half. We complete- ly outplayed them in the second and deserved more after a really superb showing.

“This cup always provides a stern test, the opposition are decent sides with many of the players playing to a high Saturday level too so we can be very pleased with our morning’s work.”

Raiders return to domestic action on Sunday when they travel to Premier Division rivals Faithfold A to start their defence of the Cyril Anekstein Cup.

The tie of the third round sees league leaders Redbridge Jewish Care A host first division pace-setters Brady Maccabi at Fairlop.
