A DOCTOR whose online campaign helpedanNHSchoirbeatJustinBieberto the Christmas number one slot has said the choir is now hoping the pop star will join them for a concert.
Harriet Nerva, a junior doctor at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Cambridge, launched a Facebook campaign in October to land the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust ChoirthetopspotintheUK’smusic charts for their single Bridge Over You.
The former JFS pupil said the song reminded her “how proud I am to work for the NHS”, and inspired her to highlight some of the issues it is facing. The campaign attracted hundreds of thousands of supporters, with 127,000 copies of the record sold. Bieber himself urged the public to make the song number one over his own release. “We were over the moon,” Dr Nerva said.“ItwasoverwhelmingthatJustin Bieber backed us. This was a grassroots campaign run by a small team on top of our day jobs and we never expected we would be competing withsomeonelikehim. “Ournextmoveistoorganisea concert with the choir and get Justinalongtoperform.”Proceeds from the single’s sales will go to charities including Carers UK and Mind.
