JCOSS HAS been rated “good” with outstanding features in its latest Ofsted inspection.

The East Barnet school was given a rating of two — the same result it received three years ago — after being visited by the inspection service last month.

Inspectors praised headteacher Patrick Moriarty as an “exceptional leader”; its “outstanding” sixth form; and its learning support and Pears special resource provision for pupils with special educational needs.

They recognised the school’s ethos and values of inclusiveness as “key factors” behind its success.

But they noted that “while teaching is good, inconsistencies remain” and that “expectations are not always high enough”.

Governors’ chair Jeremy Kosky said t h e r e p o r t h a d “highlighted JCoSS’s many exceptional strengths, the huge support that we have from parents and the excellent outcomes and progress of our students.

“JCoSS has established itself as an excellent school.”

Headteacher Patrick Moriarty was described as ‘exceptional’
