Rampant Levy destroys HPR
FOOTBALL MARC Magid praised four-goal hero Toby Levy for heaping further misery on struggling Heaton Park Rovers in the MJSL.
It has been a season to forget for HPR and things did not get any better in their first outing of 2016.
They had Levy to thank for that and South Manchester Sports 2nd boss Magid said: “Toby tipped an even game in our balance. His finishing was superb and HPR couldn’t handle him.
“It was a game played in poor conditions on a muddy pitch with puddles. But we had to get on with it once we both decided to play.
“It was the same for both sides and we might have adapted slightly better.”
The game was evenly balanced at 2-2 at half-time. Alex Swift and Joe Copeland had struck for the hosts with Levy
netting a brace. But Levy took over after going on to score two more with Max Herman also finding the net.
Magid added: “We finished fourth last season and we would be happy for a repeat of that.”
Leeds Maccabi began the new year just how they ended 2015 — by crushing their rivals. The defending champions put on another five-star display as Nick Vale helped himself to a hat-trick.
John Saffman also netted a brace with Michael Freedman scoring a consolation for a depleted Reich Insurance Rangers.
Reich’s director of football Michael Gaswirth said: “We came up against a very strong Leeds team but the scoreline didn’t reflect our performance. We were down on numbers but put up a real fight.
“We are disappointed to be in midtable but it’s about us getting some consistency now to move up.”
