Fresh faces spice up GB medal bid
SPORT TEAM GB have named five debutantes in their managerial team for this summer’s JCC Maccabi Games in Stamford, Connecticut.
The delegation claimed a record haul of 79 medals at last year’s event where athletes, aged 13-16, represent their country in America in a sporting environment, while experiencing social and cultural programmes with other young Jewish people.
The new faces include Joey Carr, Tamir Grant, Natasha Kalmanson, Jordan Sapler and Chloe Greenberg, a former Brighton and Hove Albion coach, who will be looking to guide the Girls’ U16 team to their first medal at the event.
Grant heads the U16 basketball team and will be looking to repeat his achievements of the 2013 Maccabiah Games when GB claimed their first victories in the international arena.
GB co-head of delegation Janice Aarons will lead the squad alongside husband Ian. She described the appointments as a “strong group made up of quality across the board”.
