OLIVER SAPIER has achieved his dream of a place at university after battling with a lifelong chronic bowel condition.

The teenager from Alwoodley, who studied at the Grammar School at Leeds, spent the first two years of his life in hospital and has been in constant pain ever since.

However, despite taking 60 medications a day, and being fed intravenously until recently, he is celebrating gaining three A-Levels.

His A grades in economics and psychology and a B in theatre studies have won him a place at Birmingham University to study business management.

Oliver said “I am so excited to be going to university and really looking forward to meeting lots of new people. I’ll still have to make sure I take all my meds, but it is something I’ve dealt with throughout my life,

so I know I’ll be fine.”
