Those who support this effort are being extremely naïve and should be careful what they wish for. Those who have contributed to this appeal may be importing the antisemites of today and the jihadists of tomorrow.

It should be remembered that those children have been taught that Jews are no better than pigs and Israel deserves to be wiped out. An article in the (April 29) recounted how the “Lion Cubs of the Caliphate (ie children) [are being] brainwashed to treat their parents as the enemy.”

An article in the in April stated: “Muslim attitudes towards antisemitism disturbing.” Your own correspondent, Malvyn A Benjamin, ( 23 September) wrote that Rabbi Dov Kaplan had been advised to hide his Jewish identity while offering aid to Muslim refugees in case it sparked a negative reaction. There are 260,000 Jews in the UK and we have been here for about 400 years. There are three million Muslims and that community arrived only recently.

The overwhelming majority of Muslims are people with whom I am proud to associate and who are steeped in British traditions of tolerance and freedom. However, all of us are aware of the few among them who wish to kill those who don’t subscribe to their creed. By bringing in Muslim, children or adult, refugees to this country, we are importing people who have no notion of religious toleration or secular freedom. Laurence Factor,
