Garbacz ready for yet another Hen party

- BYDANNYCARO

FOOTBALL DAVID Garbacz insists Hendon United Sports Club A will take some stopping after a treble from Yoav Kestenbaum guided them to their fifth win in the MGBSFL Premier Division.

Yoav Lebens was also on target as the former league champions maintained their three-point advantage at the top of the table. James Gershfield pulled one back for the Lions.

“We were brilliant against a pretty strong Lions team,” said Garbacz. “We pressed them and harried them without the ball and when we had it we moved it quickly and skilfully and created numerous chances.

“We are playing with lots of confidence at the moment and it will take an extremely good team to stop us this year.”

Dean Nyman (2) and Sam Sollosi maintained Redbridge Jewish Care A’s challenge at the expense of Camden Park. Boss Jon Jacobs described the victory as “fairly comfortable”.

FC Team A secured their first win as Lorian Madanes (2), Richard Salmon (2) and a pair of own goals inspired them to a 6-3 success over Woodford Wanderers. FC Team boss Mitch Young said: “We showed good application. This result will kick-start our season and we will take one game at a time knowing that with a settled team, we can be a match for anyone.”

Sam Marchant praised Lions B for a “perfect start” as they crushed Finchley City 6-1 in Division One. Michael Kenley (2), Josh Bloom, Benji Weinberger, Ben Winters and Dominic Feldman were the marksmen.

Moshe Fehler fired a consolation for Finchley and manager Joel Holder criticised his team for making “too many unforced errors and showing Lions too much respect”.

Nicky Woolf (3), Simon Buchler (2), Jake Gilbert, Elad Hertschten and Will Ufland eased North London Raiders B to an 8-1 mauling of Faithfold A.

“It was very important for us to get back to winning ways after a couple of poor results,” said Jonathan Adelman.

Richie Caplin and Joe Jordon were the marksmen as Redbridge B extended their winning league record with a 2-1 triumph over Los Blancos. RJC boss Sam Rank remarked: “We deserved the win due to the second-half performance, although the boys know they can play a lot better. But during a long season you’re going to have games like this, and these wins will be the difference between winning or losing the league.” Adam Ellis, Gideon Barth and Saul Cohen eased Hendon B to a 3-0 victory over struggling Athletic Bilbaum.

Division Two leaders Catford & Bromley Maccabi tasted defeat for the first time as they were beaten 2-1 by Faithfold B. Chaim Bordon and Josh Barnett did the damage, with joint-manager James Stanton praising his team’s “character and defensive resilience”.

L’Equipe maintained their winning formula, with James Mandell (3), Max Martin, Andy Smith, James Bell, Matt Gilbery and an own goal setting up an 8-2 success over Mill Hill Dons. Richard Hayim and Harry Moss replied.

Aaron Goldberg was the star performer as Redbridge C maintained their unbeaten record with a crushing 4-1 win over Boca Jewniors. Benjamin Lederman pulled one back.

Nick Haringman (2) and Rob Samuelson guided North London Raiders C past Hertswood Vale 3-0.

Temple Fortune ended their twomatch losing streak, with Brett Stead, Jordan Sharafia and Adam Lenz on target in the 3-1 win over FC Team B.
