FOOTBALL IN BRIEF
Tony Gellman believes Manchester Maccabi 1sts are well-placed to push for silverware after marching into the semi-finals of the Manchester FA County Cup. Marcus Jackson, Max Rose and two own goals ensured they overcame Cheadle Hulme Albion 4-0 at Brooklands. And while the Chesman League title fight could be going to the wire, Scott McGarvey’s side are certainly up for the cup. Maccabi assistant-manager Tony Gellman said: “We want to win every competition we play in. Our league form has not been as good as we would have hoped for in recent months. But we are still in with a strong shout. And if we can win another cup competition it will have been a very good season.” Maccabi return to league action on Sunday when they take on South Manchester at Hough End.
