Herts Rabbi Birnbaum ( JC Feb 13) cited Rabbi Y. E. Henkin who repudiated his anti-Zionism once Israel became a reality fearing that a lack of international support for Israel would “endanger millions of lives”. If it was Jewish lives alone that concerned Henkin, he should have boldly discouraged aliyah and urged Israeli Jews to emigrate.
