Haifamove for Luzon
FOOTBALL GUY Luzon insists he has a “wonderful challenge” ahead of him after being appointed manager of Maccabi Haifa.
Luzon, the former boss of Charlton Athletic, has signed an 18-month after replacing Rene Meulensteen.
He left Hapoel Tel Aviv last month after the club went into administration and said: “This job is the summit of my career so far”.
Reflecting on his six-month tenure, Meulensteen, who was assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United for five years, said: “My time in Israel has been a marvellous chapter, but I felt like I was sinking in quicksand and the players were not on my side.”
