FOOTBALL ELAN Ovits praised his players after NL Raiders were crowned champions of the Maccabi Masters League Division One.

Chigwell Athletic’s 3-1 defeat against Maccabi London Lions ensured Raiders secured the title.

“The lads have consistently played fantastic football and overcome any challenge that has been thrown at them. We remain unbeaten with a couple of games to go and deserve to be champions.

“Having been NLR manager for three out of the last four seasons, and won the league on every occasion, I’ve had the fortune of having a great squad of players to select from.

“This is mainly down to the hard work and dedication of my assistantmanager, Gavin Hodes, who I would like to dedicate winning this league title to on behalf of the club.”

Former Chigwell players Paul Lenchne and Hadley Silver, along with Danny Gordon, registered for Lions. Steve Summers replied for Chigwell and boss Richard Slater conceded Raiders “deserved the title”.
