Volunteers aid Calais refugees
THE JEWISH Council for Racial Equality has led a delegation to Calais to view conditions for refugees five months after the notorious “Jungle” migrant camp was dismantled.
Adam Isaacs, campaigns and communications manager for JCORE, said: “People think since the Jungle was closed there is no problem here but it’s not true.
“Refugees are sleeping rough in the towns and fields that surround the camp and they still need our help.”
The group of 15 volunteers, which included community and interfaith leaders, helped distribute aid under the guidance of refugee charity Care 4 Calais.
