Vol­un­teers aid Calais refugees

THE JEWISH Coun­cil for Racial Equal­ity has led a del­e­ga­tion to Calais to view con­di­tions for refugees five months af­ter the no­to­ri­ous “Jun­gle” mi­grant camp was dis­man­tled.

Adam Isaacs, cam­paigns and com­mu­ni­ca­tions man­ager for JCORE, said: “Peo­ple think since the Jun­gle was closed there is no prob­lem here but it’s not true.

“Refugees are sleep­ing rough in the towns and fields that sur­round the camp and they still need our help.”

The group of 15 vol­un­teers, which in­cluded com­mu­nity and in­ter­faith lead­ers, helped dis­trib­ute aid un­der the guid­ance of refugee char­ity Care 4 Calais.
