Bowlers tar­get medal push

LAWN BOWLS Dou­glas Green­ston ad­mits he is rel­ish­ing the chal­lenges ahead fol­low­ing the an­nounce­ment of the Team Mac­cabi GB Lawn Bowls squad com­pet­ing at this sum­mer’s Mac­cabiah Games.

Man­aged by Stuart Lustig­man and Green­ston, the squad fea­tures a com­bi­na­tion of bowlers who have rep­re­sented GB at pre­vi­ous Mac­cabi­ahs, as well as some new play­ers who are keen to make their mark on the in­ter­na­tional stage.

Green­ston said: “It is an honour to rep­re­sent your coun­try in any ca­pac­ity and from my past ex­pe­ri­ences com­pet­ing against other coun­tries in Is­rael, this is some­thing which is never for­got­ten.

“We are look­ing for­ward to tak­ing part but we will be try­ing our best to com­pete and bring home a medal of any colour.

“The squad in­cludes a fa­ther and son trio, Alan, An­drew and James Co­hen and Bernard David­son who will be com­pet­ing at his sev­enth Games – a ma­jor achieve­ment for any ath­lete.”
