Mr & Mrs Cohen steal show
GOLF THE Association of Jewish Golf Clubs & Societies opened their 2017 programme with a new initiative when an inaugural Open event was held at Hartsbourne Country Club on Sunday.
The event was a further recognition of the association’s ambition to seek to attract Jewish golfers who currently play outside the domain of the recognised predominately Jewish clubs who affiliate to the Association.
The Association was encouraged to welcome 25 players to compete in a Stapleford competition, played in glorious sunshine. The course was presented in great condition and the overall winner was Andrew Cohen, with his wife Wendy, victorious in the ladies.
An AJGCS spokesman said: “We are confident that the success of the event can be used as the start of the development of a UK Jewish Golf society which may ultimately compete alongside the established affiliates in the Association’s competitions.”
There will be a further event in London this autumn with aim of organising an out of London tournament in 2018.
