‘I truly believe we are the best of all the land’s Jews’
FOOTBALL RIC Blank insists now is the right time to step down as jointmanager of Oakwood A following 11 successful years.
Blank, who shared duties with Dan Kristall this season, saw his Oakwood players finish the campaign in style following a 6-3 win over Lions A.
They currently lead the MGBSFL Premier Division and will be crowned champions if Redbridge fail to win all their remaining matches.
“It’s hard to put into words what this experience has meant to me,” said an emotional Blank. “The memories, the friends, the winning and the losing — it’s been such an important part of my life.”
Blank guided the Oaks to two cup finals following a spell as C-team boss when he first arrived from Manchester. “Football is an addiction to many of us and Sunday football the drug,” he said. “I am no different. I couldn’t have conceived of the people I’d meet, the friends I’d make, the stories I’d be able to tell.
“I’ve experienced highs and lows on the pitch, but I’ve never lost sight of what we’ve achieved — above and beyond any other club. I truly believe we are the best of all the Jews in all the land.
“My challenge to the boys is to prove it. I will be in the crowd celebrating when they do.”
