PETER MORRISON TROPHY SEMI-FINAL MACCABI LONDON LIONS UNDER-21 0 SOUTH MANCHESTER SC 1ST 3

FOOTBALL NEIL Collins praised his team’s character after South Manchester reached the final of the Peter Morrison Trophy with a 3-0 success over the youngest team in the competition.

Having beaten double hopefuls Redbridge A in the previous round, South returned to London with one thing on their minds, reaching the final.

The visitors made their intentions clear from the first whistle, with Saul Shapiro’s double putting them in charge. And a second-half strike from Toby Levy means they will have home advantage in the final next month.

South manager Collins said: “To come to London twice and win is a huge achievement and shows the character of the boys.

“The team-talk before the game and at half-time was easy, we didn’t need any more motivation — we were in a good place.

“Thanks to Lions for the hospitality and the under-21s were a credit to the club.”

South Manchester await the winners of this weekend’s semi-final between Maccabi London Lions Masters and current MGBSFL champions North London Raiders A.
