Can­di­date sus­pended

A LIB­ERAL Demo­crat elec­tion can­di­date who pub­lished a se­ries of an­ti­semitic so­cial me­dia posts has been sus­pended by the party.

Ashuk Ahmed was dropped as the Lu­ton South can­di­date on Tues­day.

The 51-year-old, who has an MBE for com­mu­nity work, was re­vealed to have posted a se­ries of highly of­fen­sive mes­sages in­clud­ing sug­ges­tions that Zion­ists con­trolled “half the world”.

He also shared an im­age of Benjamin Ne­tanyahu with blood pour­ing out of his mouth onto the bod­ies of Pales­tinian chil­dren.

Mr Ahmed was in­ter­viewed by po­lice in 2014 about the posts, but not charged.
