Hate definition adopted

CAMDEN COUNCIL voted unanimously to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism at a meeting this week.

Fears that the motion would be challenged by anti-Zionist campaigners proved unfounded as it was supported by all the north London borough’s councillors on a cross-party basis.

The IHRA working definition was adopted by Prime Minister Theresa May on behalf of the UK , and by the London Assembly and other local authorities.

It reads: “Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews,” and Jewish property, community institutions and religious facilities.
