Missing man found dead

- BY DANIEL SUGARMAN

A JEWISH man who was missing from his home for a week, has been found dead, according to the police.

Alexander Singerman, a 32 yearold from Glasgow, was last seen on Wednesday May 10, in the west coast town of Ayr where he worked as an archivist.

Police said the body of a man found in the area was thought to be that of Mr Singerman. They are not treating the death as suspicious.

A statement released by Police Scotland said: “Around 11.15 hours today, Wednesday 17 May 2017, the body of a man was found in the area of Auchincruive Estate.

“Formal identification has still to take place. However, police believe the body to be that of Alexander Singerman and his family have been informed.

“A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”

A video posted on Facebook featuring his parents appealing for him to get in touch, was shared over 1,000 times.

His family described him as “a very personable man who has a lot of friends”.

In a statement released last Saturday, Chief Inspector Annette Morrison of Ayrshire Police said Mr Singerman “was dealing with a couple of personal issues just now but nothing that we are aware of that would suggest not being in touch with family”.

Mr Singerman had been intending to run the Edinburgh Marathon on May 28, and had raised almost £850 for the Scottish Refugee Council, in memory of his grandmother, a survivor of Auschwitz. Alexander Singerman
