Floral prints tend to be ultragirlie and a little too feminine for my liking. And it seems I’m not the only one who’s been crying out for nightshade styles. This season, florals take on a tougher image than ever before. It’s about mixing them up with your leathers, heavy-buckled ankle boots and lashings of black kohl. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this look — it felt rebellious but at the same time womanly and sophisticated and the best bit was that I could still get away with my trusty black opaques (I’m not yet ready to surrender to nude hosiery). For a softer take on this style, choose transparent designs or dark floral dresses with sheer sleeves and panels that help to create the right balance.
