The Peak Tram and Galleria. Take the funicular railway to The Peak Galleria, for views across Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.

Man Mo Temple, Hollywood Road, a picturesqu­e, fragrant complex in the heart of the SoHo area.

Central-Mid-Level escalators. Ride from Central after 10am.

The historic double-decker trams. Ride along Hong Kong Island.

The Star Ferry. Travel from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon and back on these small commuter ferries, in operation since 1888. At night, see the skyscraper­s, all lit up.

Chi Lin Nunnery, a Buddhist complex in Diamond Hill, Kowloon.

Ladies Market, Kowloon, for fake handbags and souvenirs.

Walk down Nathan Road in Kowloon for a more local feel.

Flower Market, Bird Market and Goldfish Market, off Nathan Road.

The Light Show, best viewed from the Kowloon side of the harbour, every day at 8pm for 15 mins.

Cable Car from Ngong Ping, on Lantau Island, up to the Big Buddha. And maybe on to Tai O, a fishing village with houses on stilts.

Cocktails at a rooftop bar — Ozone, Aqua, or Ce La Vie.

Hike Dragon’s Back and see the South Side of Hong Kong Island.

Visit Stanley and Repulse Bay.
