Liberal party as Bedford reaches its half-century
PEOPLE WITH a connection to Bedfordshire Progressive Synagogue travelled from as far afield as Devon and Spain to celebrate the community’s 50th anniversary.
A special service was held at Clophill Village Hall to mark the golden jubilee and welcome the return of the congregation’s newly repaired scroll.
Guests included the Bishop of Bedford, Richard Atkinson, and Board of Deputies chief executive Gillian Merron, who spoke about her journey from Labour MP to communal leader. Gifts to the congregation were presented by Natu Solanki,vice-chair of Luton Council of Faiths, to BPS chair David Young.
Surplus food from the lunch was delivered to Bedford Night Shelter, of which BPS is a regular supporter.
