Lib­eral party as Bed­ford reaches its half-cen­tury

PEO­PLE WITH a con­nec­tion to Bed­ford­shire Pro­gres­sive Sy­n­a­gogue trav­elled from as far afield as Devon and Spain to cel­e­brate the com­mu­nity’s 50th an­niver­sary.

A spe­cial ser­vice was held at Clophill Vil­lage Hall to mark the golden ju­bilee and wel­come the re­turn of the con­gre­ga­tion’s newly re­paired scroll.

Guests in­cluded the Bishop of Bed­ford, Richard Atkinson, and Board of Deputies chief ex­ec­u­tive Gil­lian Mer­ron, who spoke about her jour­ney from Labour MP to com­mu­nal leader. Gifts to the con­gre­ga­tion were pre­sented by Natu Solanki,vice-chair of Lu­ton Coun­cil of Faiths, to BPS chair David Young.

Sur­plus food from the lunch was de­liv­ered to Bed­ford Night Shel­ter, of which BPS is a reg­u­lar sup­porter.
