Stone boosts Shaftes­bury

ATH­LET­ICS SEV­ERAL young mid­dle dis­tance run­ners con­trib­uted to Shaftes­bury Bar­net’s over­all vic­tory in the Eastern Young Ath­letes’ League in Hen­don.

David Stone won the un­der-17 1,500m ti­tle in 4:20.77, cut­ting six sec­onds from his per­sonal best. Gi­lad Nachshen took first place in the U15 800m in 2:06.38 and also im­proved his 300m time to 39.26.

Maayan Radus, hav­ing re­joined Shaftes­bury from Black­heath & Brom­ley, placed sec­ond in the U15 1,500m in 5:08.33. Bini Bloom, Adam Cahn, Aron Yona and Joshua Goldstein also con­trib­uted to the team’s suc­cess.

Nachshen, 13, re­duced his 1,500m best to 4:24.57 at the Wat­ford Open Graded Meet­ing while Adam Fir­sht, 14, cut his time to 4:32.9 in the Youth Devel­op­ment League in Lewes.

Lia Radus, 15, took vic­tory in the 1,500m and sec­ond place in the 3,000m in the Youth Devel­op­ment League. Her times were 4:53.72 and 10:39.91 re­spec­tively.

Lu­cie Wolfenden, 15, won the U17 pole vault at the Youth Devel­op­ment League in Wrex­ham with a 2.75m clear­ance.

Ros­alind Zef­fertt tack­led four events suc­cess­fully in the Lon­don In­ter Club Chal­lenge in Hen­don. Con­test­ing the ham­mer throw for the first time, she achieved a mark of 18.72m to move to 26th in the UK V55 rank­ings.
