Stone boosts Shaftesbury
ATHLETICS SEVERAL young middle distance runners contributed to Shaftesbury Barnet’s overall victory in the Eastern Young Athletes’ League in Hendon.
David Stone won the under-17 1,500m title in 4:20.77, cutting six seconds from his personal best. Gilad Nachshen took first place in the U15 800m in 2:06.38 and also improved his 300m time to 39.26.
Maayan Radus, having rejoined Shaftesbury from Blackheath & Bromley, placed second in the U15 1,500m in 5:08.33. Bini Bloom, Adam Cahn, Aron Yona and Joshua Goldstein also contributed to the team’s success.
Nachshen, 13, reduced his 1,500m best to 4:24.57 at the Watford Open Graded Meeting while Adam Firsht, 14, cut his time to 4:32.9 in the Youth Development League in Lewes.
Lia Radus, 15, took victory in the 1,500m and second place in the 3,000m in the Youth Development League. Her times were 4:53.72 and 10:39.91 respectively.
Lucie Wolfenden, 15, won the U17 pole vault at the Youth Development League in Wrexham with a 2.75m clearance.
Rosalind Zeffertt tackled four events successfully in the London Inter Club Challenge in Hendon. Contesting the hammer throw for the first time, she achieved a mark of 18.72m to move to 26th in the UK V55 rankings.
